People often ask me when I began singing. I remember
singing at the top of my lungs while running to
elementary school with my friends - "School days, school
days, dear old golden rule days...," and singing harmonies
to songs on the radio with my brother Stavros. In my
early teen years I began listening to Julie Andrews and
Barbra Streisand albums. I was smitten with their voices
and wanted to sing just like those two songbirds. It was
in high school, however, that I developed a passionate
interest in singing. I wasn't really sure that I had a voice
at first because I didn't even make the cast of the 9th
grade musical, Fiddler on the Roof, but things improved
steadily each year and in 12th grade, I landed the role of
my dreams, "Maria" in The Sound of Music.
I began studying voice while earning my Bachelor's Degree in English and Psychology at
Immaculata College. I later earned my Master's Degree in Administration from West
Chester University. While my formal studies were in areas other than music, I was heavily
involved in musical ensembles and musical theatre productions throughout high school,
college, and subsequent years. Over the years I continued my studies in voice with Jonathan
Reinhold, Janis Swana, Randi Marrazzo, and John Nicholas Peters. I studied acting
technique at the Walnut, Arden, and Wilma theatres in Philadelphia. I am grateful for the
wonderful opportunities I have had in performing over the years. Some of my more recent
performances include:
- Gerald Veasely's Jazz Base - "Jazz on Broadway Cabaret Show"
- Reading Public Museum Concert Series - "The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber"
- Soloist and ensemble vocalist for "The Sacred Music of Duke Ellington Concert" - part
of the Clifford Brown Jazz Festival in Wilmington, DE
